A Typical Day

A Day at Adventurers
Unlike many other childcare settings, we do not have a set routine at Adventurers Nursery. The principles of The Curiosity ApproachⓇ place the individual child at the heart of everything, and, as such, our practitioners set open-ended activities for our children to discover. However, we do have anchoring points in the day to allow the gentle feel of familiarity that young children crave: snack time at 10am and lunchtime (which begins at 11:30am).
Our youngest children in The Nest might spend their morning building carefully placing bangles onto a jewellery tree or building blocks. Then, they might discover grainy textures in a sand-based activity set up in The Alley.
The Hive toddlers are very inquisitive. They could spend part of their day using old telephones and tills to run their own little shop or taking a book to a cosy corner to read with their Key Person. Then there’s all the potential of honing those fine motor skills in The Alley, holding toothbrushes to brush teeth or create artistic masterpieces on the painting wall.
Pre-school aged children in Adventurers have the exciting opportunity to spend the day in whichever room captures their interest. Our practitioners will be on hand to help guide their learning in that room, to ensure all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum are met. Or, a child might decide to spend the morning creating music in The Studio on the piano followed by an afternoon in The Site, constructing towers from cardboard boxes and milk cartons and learning what shapes fit together.
There is always time for outdoor play, whether in glorious sunshine or in puddlesuits and wellies for some winter fun! All of our children benefit from exploring our large garden and decking area, which is equipped with old pots, pans and all sorts of real kitchen utensils.

A Day That Flows Naturally
No rigid routine means children can follow their curiosity and go deep into play. Familiar anchor points like snack and lunchtime give just enough structure to help little ones feel secure.

Something for Every Age
From The Nest to The Hive to Adventurers, each group has spaces and activities tailored to where they are in their development, whether that's sensory exploration, imaginative play or creative expression.

Learning Inside & Out
Our children have the run of inspiring indoor spaces and a large outdoor garden, whatever the weather. Real tools, open-ended materials and freedom to roam make every corner of Adventurers a place to discover.
